What do we know about Camilla?
A great car maker in the United States---Henry Ford if you're wondering---once made a great great point in one of his quotes,"When everything seems to be going against you...remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it." When she was discovered, Camila was diagnosed as blind and currently attends a school for the visually impaired. Camila has dreams, despite her lack of sight, to go into computing and has a hobby of playing drums in a band. The determination Camila has for her life is not only inspiring for her peers, but her nation and our world.
Can you imagine walking in your house without a single light to guide you? For Camila this is a reality that never ceases. Watch her awake in the middle of the night, hungry, only to find that the world has has turned to a shadow. Nothing is left. The health of Camila's eyes is very poor.
Camila has cataracts, which is a disease that clouds your eyes and makes it hard to see things. A website on how to cure cataracts says, "Surgery is the only effective treatment for advanced cataracts that cause visual impairment. The procedure involves removing the cloudy lens and inserting an artificial implant. This is very effective and can make you see much better. It is highly recommended."
Camila would like to be a compute when she grows up. Computing is teaching computer. For this to happen, Camila needs to be able to have access to technology. Camila will need to be able to familiarize with computers and other forms of technology to be able to teach it. You can’t teach something if you don’t know how to use it. She needs a computer and some form of a charger.
Camila has needs like any other child except hers are special. Camila is blind and that means she needs some extra attention that others don’t need. Camila needs to have an aid, get surgery, and have access to technology.
In this case, Camila needs to get surgery to heal her eyes. The only thing is, she doesn't have the money for that kind of thing. Many in rocinha are in financial troubles. We ask that you donate through UNICEF or savethechildren.com to help Camila get the money she needs for surgery. After, Camila can live a very happy life like any other 10 year old should.
